Lesson 8 Making Presentations

There are three main purposes for making a presentation.
  • Inform
  • Educate
  • Entertain
Audiences learn by :
  • Seeing
  • Hearing
  • Doing
Main parts of a presentation include :
  • Text
  • Charts and Graphs
  • Images
  • Audio/Video
A Few Rules :
  • Keep Slides Easy to Read
  • State Purpose
  • Add Good Images
  • Use Friendly Speaking Style
  • Don't Simply Read Slides
Colors and font size are important. 
Never use black back with red text.
Use light background with dark text preferably, as it feels better with paper being white.
Always remember that you must scale text size with size of presentation room.

Organize Slides Effectively :

  • State Purpose
  • Present Info in Multiple Ways
  • End w/ Summary
Add Supporting Images :

  • Keep People Interested
  • Reinforce Key Messages
  • Help Visual Learners
  • Avoid Clutter
  • Don't Use Too Many Colors
  • Never Mix Clip Art and Real Images
Relax and be Friendly
  • Never Read Word for Word from Slide
  • Don't Talk too Fast
  • Add Own Info and Examples
  • Allow Note Taking Time
  • Answer Audience Questions
  • Practice Presenting

POIT Lesson 6 Peripherals

Notes for School

Peripherals are devices used for computer input and output and can include -

  • Mouse (input) - send signals that send cursor in directions
  • Keyboard (input) - input device that send a signal of keys and key combinations for actions
  • Monitor (output) - displays images and pixels to represent what is happening
  • Printer (output) - puts images and words onto paper and brings it into real world
  • USB/Flashdrive (input) - evolved from floppy disk to CD to USB to SSD Drives
Scanners - reads a document and image and sends it to computer
Multifunction - scan scan, print, and copy

Tower Cases can have expansion spots and bays
